MEET THE SHS BAND STAFF

Jamie Bream, Director

Jamie Bream, a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, is a 2002 graduate of UNC-Pembroke where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. 
From 2002-2008 he was director of bands at Southern Middle School in Aberdeen. Under his direction, the SMS bands received consistent superior ratings, and performed extensively, both locally and at Walt Disney World. In addition to his middle school duties, he was an assistant band director for Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines and the SMS tennis and soccer coach.

From 2008-2015 Mr. Bream was director of bands at Sycamore Lane Middle School in Laurinburg, NC where he has continued to receive consistent superior ratings at district MPA festivals.  The SLMS Band has also traveled to Walt Disney World and Williamsburg, Virginia, receiving several 1st place trophies. Mr. Bream has assisted with the Scotland High School Marching Band, coached both boys and girl’s soccer and was the 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year at Sycamore Lane.  Currently Mr. Bream is Band Director at Scotland High School in Laurinburg.

 

He is a member of the Music Educators National Conference, National Band Association,  North Carolina Music Educators Association, and the Southeastern District Band Directors Association. He has served as the North Carolina All-State chairman for middle school, the Southeastern District President, Southeastern MPA Chairman and the NC Bandmasters President.  Mr. Bream is an active adjudicator and clinician across North Carolina, was awarded the Southeastern Districts award of excellence in 2014 and was inducted into the prestigious American School Band Directors Association in 2015.  

Amanda Botto, Spring Hill MS Director

Ms. Amanda Botto is from Hope Mills, NC and graduated from Gray's Creek High School in 2020.  She participated in the band for four years and held leadership positions such as Hornline Captain and Drum Major. 

She graduated from UNCP in the Spring of 2024 with her Bachelor's degree in Music Education. She was part of the Spirit of the Carolinas Marching Band during the 2022-23 season as one of the Drum Majors. 

She has a passion for music and marching band and hopes to help grow the marching arts in Scotland County. Ms. Botto is the current Band Director at Spring Hill Middle School.

"Marching band is where the majority of my fondest memories of my time in school comes from. All of the people I still talk to from high school were in band with me. I feel that being in band is one of the best ways for students to find a safe place and make fond memories."

Nicolaus Manshack, Carver MS Director

Nic Manshack is the band director at Carver Middle School in Laurel Hill, NC. He originates from Cary, NC and where he went to Cary High School. During his time at Cary High School, the band were finalist at multiple BOA Regionals and they made semi finals in 2014 at BOA Grand Nationals.

In 2017 the high school  participated in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.  He went on to receive his music education degree from Western Carolina University, where he participated in the "Pride of the Mountains" Marching Band at WCU in 2019.

He also participated in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade a 2nd time, this time with WCU. He is also an alumni of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps, where he marched in 2018.
